The more enduring question is what shareholders receive from Evolution's business and capital-allocation decisions. In 2026, the company approved no dividend for the 2025 financial year, pursued a substantial share repurchase programme and cancelled millions of shares. These measures alter the share count, but they cannot make an investment attractive irrespective of growth, risk or purchase price. For corporate context, see our Evolution company overview.

The familiar phrase Evolution Gaming share price still appears in searches, but the listed issuer is Evolution AB. Investors should identify the exchange and instrument before using a chart or calculating a valuation. An American OTC quote in US dollars cannot be pasted into a Stockholm share-price box, even when it relates to the same underlying business. Differences in quotation units, trading hours, spreads and instrument structure can make apparently comparable numbers misleading.
A share price is also distinct from the value of the whole company. EVO represents a claim on the listed parent, not direct ownership of an Evolution studio, a casino customer or a specific game brand. Shareholders participate through the legal rights of their security and the decisions taken under the company's corporate governance arrangements.
Evolution share price history: what the chart should tell us
Use the Evolution share chart to compare the available periods and read the SEK price scale. The selected instrument is EVO on Nasdaq Stockholm; the provider identifies market status and any reporting delay.
Isolated daily moves can be driven by earnings, guidance, regulatory news, capital returns or wider changes in investors' willingness to pay for growth. A visible move around one announcement does not alone establish causation. The strongest interpretation compares the event date with the company's disclosures and broader market conditions, without inventing a single explanation for every candle.
Evolution's 2026 events provide several dates worth marking against a properly functioning chart:
| Date | Corporate event | Why the investor might examine it |
|---|---|---|
| 24 April 2026 | AGM resolved that no dividend be paid for FY2025 | Change in expected direct cash distribution |
| 18 May 2026 | Board announced a €2bn share buyback programme | Capital allocation and possible future share-count reduction |
| July to September 2026 | Candle Lake mandatory offer process, including a SEK 695 cash offer | A dated offer price and ownership event, not today's quote |
| September 2026 | Cancellation of 16,168,492 repurchased shares | Reduction of issued capital and future denominator |
| 23 October 2026 | Third-quarter results | Evidence about business growth and margins |
| 2 November 2026 | Disclosure of repurchases through 30 October | Updated issued and treasury share counts |
The SEK 695 offered by Candle Lake in August 2026 was a historical tender price. It should never be substituted for an exchange quote. Equally, a price plotted before the September cancellations must be interpreted alongside the capital actions of the period; price performance and the changing number of shares describe different aspects of shareholder value.
A chart helps us observe volatility and trends. It cannot establish intrinsic value without a view of future earnings, cash generation and risk. Historical price gains are not a forecast, and apparent cheapness after a fall is not evidence of a bargain.
Evolution dividends: the latest decision
Evolution has a dividend history, but the latest formally approved distribution cannot be guessed from a historical yield shown by an aggregator. At the 24 April 2026 annual general meeting, shareholders resolved that no dividend be paid for the 2025 financial year. This is a specific decision about one year's profits, not a statement that Evolution has never distributed cash or will never do so again.
The distinction matters because dividend data services often show a trailing payment or yield calculated against an earlier share price. A yield based on a prior year's dividend is not a promise of cash to a buyer today. The relevant questions are whether the board has proposed a new distribution, whether shareholders have approved it and which record and payment dates apply.
The AGM also authorised the board to conduct repurchases within the applicable rules. A buyback returns capital indirectly by reducing shares in circulation, or potentially by cancelling shares held in treasury. It differs fundamentally from a dividend: an investor who does not sell receives no immediate cash from the repurchase itself, although their proportional claim on the remaining equity may increase.
Investors comparing the two methods should consider taxes, liquidity, the company's cash needs and the price paid for repurchased shares. A dividend provides a defined payment once approved; a buyback programme is an allocation decision whose scale and timing depend on actual execution.
How Evolution's share buybacks work
On 18 May 2026, Evolution's board announced a share buyback programme with €2 billion allocated. Allocation does not mean that €2 billion was spent immediately. Repurchases are transactions over time, and their financial impact depends on execution prices, total shares bought and what happens to the treasury shares.
The company's announcement published on 2 November 2026 reported 459,509 own shares acquired between 26 and 30 October. It separately reported 18,999,197 shares acquired cumulatively between 19 May and 30 October under the programme. The weekly number is part of the cumulative figure; adding the two would double-count purchases.
The share-count bridge
The same issuer disclosure provided the following position as at 30 October 2026:
| Share-count measure | Shares | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Total issued shares | 183,058,121 | Shares legally issued after the relevant cancellations |
| Treasury shares held by Evolution | 2,830,705 | Issued shares held by the company itself |
| Issued shares outside treasury, calculated | 180,227,416 | 183,058,121 minus 2,830,705 |
The last row is arithmetic derived from the two issuer figures, not a separately certified shareholder register or an earnings-per-share denominator. Treasury holdings, legally issued shares, shares held by outside investors and the weighted-average number used for EPS are related but distinct measures.
The company also completed the cancellation of 16,168,492 repurchased shares in September 2026. Cancellation removes those shares from the issued total; they must not remain in a present-day denominator simply because an older article listed them as treasury stock. Historical disclosures from August or September may therefore use substantially different bases.
What changes for a continuing shareholder? Suppose a company earns the same absolute profit after a reduction in the number of shares relevant to earnings per share. All else equal, profit per share could rise. But the phrase all else equal does considerable work. Cash used for repurchases cannot also be invested, distributed or kept as a reserve. The company may have paid an attractive or unattractive price for its own equity, and its actual net income may change.
A smaller share base can improve per-share arithmetic without creating operating growth. Conversely, investment in new products may produce more value than repurchasing shares if returns exceed the opportunity cost. A buyback is therefore not proof that the share is undervalued. Its value to remaining holders depends on execution and future business results.
The percentage holdings of major investors must be dated too. Candle Lake's final September offer statement gave 59,910,335 shares held or controlled, representing approximately 31.6% on that statement's basis. Evolution's shareholder page showed a different historical percentage for its September snapshot. It would be unsafe to apply either figure mechanically to the October share base without a matching holder disclosure. Who owns Evolution covers the voting, derivative and governance distinctions.
Market capitalisation and valuation
Market capitalisation is the market price multiplied by an appropriate number of shares. The price and share base must refer to a clearly stated observation date and convention; total issued shares and shares outside treasury are different measures.
A published valuation should identify its quote source and date, share-count basis and treatment of treasury shares. Different data providers can use different conventions, so an exchange-published figure and an editorial calculation may differ.
Market capitalisation is also not enterprise value. Enterprise value adjusts for debt, cash and other relevant claims, which must be taken from a coherent reporting period. A share price and the latest cash balance cannot simply be combined without attention to currency conversion, debt definitions and the treatment of restricted balances.
For a profitability comparison, investors often consider earnings, free cash flow and margins alongside the price being paid. Evolution reports its financial performance in euros, while the Stockholm share trades in kronor. Converting one to the other requires a dated exchange rate and consistent accounting definitions. We will not invent a current price-to-earnings ratio or an enterprise-value multiple from mismatched inputs. Evolution financial results guide explains the reported numbers in their proper accounting context.
Our view on Evolution's shares: a framework for the next 12 to 24 months
Our assessment is conditional rather than a buy-or-sell call. Evolution has a substantial B2B content operation and has historically generated high operating margins. Those qualities can support cash generation, but they do not guarantee that shareholders earn a satisfactory return at any entry price.
The recent growth picture is more restrained than a simple long-term success story. Evolution reported €526.125 million of net revenue for the third quarter of 2026, up 3.7% year on year, and €1,556.955 million for the first nine months, up 0.3%. High adjusted EBITDA margins and modest revenue growth can coexist. If investors price the shares for a rapid recovery, sustained slower growth could disappoint even if the company remains profitable.
The positive case is that additional regulated US studio capacity, broader game formats and operator partnerships translate into durable customer use. That would improve the prospect of organic growth and could justify a stronger valuation. Yet an announced studio or product launch is not evidence of incremental earnings until its utilisation and economics appear in subsequent reports.
The negative case arises if market-access restrictions, compliance failures or prolonged studio disruptions constrain distribution. The July 2026 UKGC settlement of £4.75 million, and the temporary Brazil studio interruption described in the October report, illustrate different routes by which regulation affects operations. The disputed Playtech litigation brings a separate legal uncertainty; opposing allegations must not be treated as a final court finding. Our business risks analysis examines those mechanisms, while markets and licences maps legal scope.
| Case over the next 12 to 24 months | What would support it | Implication for valuation | What would weaken the case |
|---|---|---|---|
| Base | High profitability persists, but revenue growth remains relatively subdued | Value should be grounded in sustainable cash earnings rather than historic growth rates | Further deterioration in sales quality or cost structure |
| Upside | US expansion and product breadth generate sustained, reported growth and cash conversion | Stronger expectations could support a higher multiple | Launches fail to produce measurable adoption |
| Downside | Access restrictions, competition, legal costs or studio disruption pressure earnings | Lower earnings expectations or a weaker multiple could reduce value | Improved compliance outcomes and demand counter the concerns |
The key is price sensitivity. Even a business that meets its operational targets can be a disappointing investment if bought at an excessive valuation. Conversely, a lower price may improve the prospective return, but only if the underlying risks and cash flows justify it. A valuation conclusion requires an updated quote, verified share base, valuation model and explicit assumptions.
Buybacks add a further variable. Reduced share count can support per-share outcomes, while the capital deployed may reduce financial flexibility. We would judge the programme alongside business performance rather than awarding a premium merely because the company purchased its own stock.
What would change our assessment?
We would reassess the case on evidence rather than an arbitrary target price:
- Organic growth and profitability. Do successive reports show demand improving, and is cash conversion consistent with the reported margins?
- Buyback execution. How many shares are actually acquired and cancelled, at what cost, and what happens to net cash or debt?
- US operating results. Do studio openings and new games develop into sustained operator utilisation and financial contribution?
- Regulatory and legal developments. Do official records show further material enforcement, remediation or substantive court outcomes?
- Valuation at the observation date. What earnings and cash-flow expectations are already reflected in the SEK price?
These questions should be updated over the next 12 to 24 months. An investor's time horizon, diversification and tolerance for loss matter separately from our editorial assessment of the company.
