Sky Bet in-play betting means considering a wager after a sporting event has started. Unlike pre-match betting, the score, time remaining and prices may change while you decide. Crucially, seeing a live price is not the same as having a bet accepted. Here is how to approach live markets, understand interrupted selections and check whether a wager was recorded.
How Sky Bet In-Play Betting Works
Pre-match selections are made before an event starts; in-play prices and available markets can change as it unfolds. Sky Bet's Market Rules state that displayed odds are informational and the valid price is the one at acceptance.
My advice: follow the bet receipt, not the changing scoreboard. Live scores and statistics can themselves be delayed or inaccurate.
How To Find And Place An In-Play Bet
On the official Sky Bet In-Play page, reached from In-Play under Top Sports, you can browse the live sports and events currently listed. The sports and fixtures change throughout the day.
- Choose a listed sport, then open the live event you want to inspect. If it is absent, do not assume betting is available for it.
- Find the relevant market on the event page and read its name and settlement basis. A match-result bet is not a goals or player-statistics bet.
- Select the available price and review the selection, odds and intended stake in the Betslip before attempting placement.
- If the price changes, check the updated terms and your odds-acceptance preference before proceeding.
- After placement, go to My Bets and check the recorded wager rather than relying on the price you originally saw.
Check That Your Bet Was Accepted
The official bet-receipt guide explains that a receipt in your bet history identifies the bet and shows its placement time, stake, event, market, selection and odds. Sky Bet's rules say that, in a timing dispute, its bet-capture system's confirmation time governs settlement.
Use My Bets to look for the open wager and its receipt; our My Account and My Bets guide covers that area in more detail. If you cannot establish a record, avoid submitting the same bet repeatedly and ask support to check.
Why Live Odds And Markets Can Change
A goal, red card or stoppage can change the price or temporarily close a football market. Sky Bet's Bet Acceptance Policy says that if odds change during placement, the customer is prompted to accept the adjusted price. Its odds settings guide also describes an option to accept price changes automatically. Check your setting rather than assuming that every change requires manual approval.
Sky Bet's Market Rules allow it to suspend or cease betting on a market without notice. Bets accepted in error after a market is suspended, or after an outcome is already determined, can be void even if they initially appear accepted.
Suppose a football match is 0–0 when you view a home-win price, but the home side scores during placement. The earlier quote does not secure that price. What matters is the odds recorded on the receipt, subject to the applicable rules. There is no single guaranteed acceptance delay.
Football And Other In-Play Markets
Football is a useful example because the match situation can change quickly. Depending on the event and what is listed at the time, you might be comparing a match-result selection with a total-goals or both-teams-to-score market. Those selections answer different questions, and a change in score can affect them differently.
For example, a home-win selection concerns the relevant match result, whereas an over-goals selection concerns whether the specified total is exceeded. Check the market's stated settlement period, especially when extra time may be involved. For a fuller explanation of the market families, see Sky Bet football betting.
For any other sport shown live, inspect the specific market. Pre-event availability does not establish in-play availability.
In-Play Betting On Mobile, Cash Out And Offers
Sky Bet offers iOS and Android apps and a mobile website, but access does not guarantee market availability. For setup and device problems, see Sky Bet app and mobile access.
Cash Out is separate. In-play betting concerns a new selection during an event; Cash Out concerns an existing wager and is not always available. See our Sky Bet Cash Out guide.
If an offer mentions in-play betting, check its qualifying markets and dates rather than assuming every live wager counts.
Betting is for adults aged 18+. A changing price is no reason to rush: check the market, your settings and the recorded receipt.
