Betsson Markets, Operators and Licences

Author: Lucky BetMastermind. I prepared this corporate licensing analysis for GambleBallers with help of ChatGPT, checking legal entities and dated official records. This is editorial research, not a claim that I personally used any of the gambling services or a substitute for the regulator's live register.

Betsson operates internationally, but there is no single ‘Betsson licence’ authorising every group brand in every country. The decisive details are the jurisdiction, named legal operator, website, gambling activity and date. Our review of official registers identifies documented arrangements in Denmark, Sweden, Italy, Belgium, Estonia and Lithuania, alongside an important change in the historical British licensing position. These are verified examples, not a complete list of all Betsson countries.

Betsson Licensing at a Glance

QuestionEvidence-led answer
Who is the licence holder?A named legal entity authorised for the relevant jurisdiction and activity. The licence holder does not necessarily have to be incorporated in that jurisdiction, and different Betsson-branded products may have different operators.
Is Betsson UK-licensed?The identified UKGC remote casino licence of Zecure Gaming Limited (account 56427) was surrendered on 22 June 2026. An alternative active British consumer permission for the specified historical domains has not been established in this review.
Who operates Betsson in Sweden? The Swedish domain register lists both Betsson Nordic Ltd and Spin Nordic Ltd against betsson.com/sv; its separate authorisation periods must not be compressed into one licence.
Can a Maltese licence be used across Europe? No. A Malta Gaming Authority authorisation does not itself replace a national licence required in another jurisdiction.

Where Does Betsson Operate?

There are at least three answers to this apparently simple question. A Betsson group company can have an office or investment in a country; a branded website can address that country's audience; and a named operator can hold permission for a particular product there. Only the third, read together with its permitted activities and website records, is a reliable starting point for a licensing map.

The Betsson AB company overview explains the corporate parent. Betsson AB is a Swedish listed company, while consumer gambling permissions are recorded against operating companies. Betsson's published financial regions - including the Nordics, Western Europe, Latin America and Central and Eastern Europe and Central Asia - measure economic activity. They are not a list of countries in which the same brand or operator is authorised.

We can trace a selection of specific national relationships from current official registers and operator disclosures. The result is deliberately narrower than a promotional ‘available worldwide’ map. In particular, a country entry below does not mean that every Betsson Group brand, casino game or sportsbook product is available there.

Betsson Markets, Brands and Licensed Operators

The following table links a verifiable website or brand to its relevant legal operator and authority. A licence number marked ‘not shown’ is not a claim that no licence exists: it means we have not established a safe identifier from the reviewed public record. ‘Register-listed’ describes the status of a specific authority entry as checked on 4 November 2026, not a guarantee of uninterrupted future operation.

How to read the matrix: the evidence supports identified operator - domain associations; it does not imply that all game types allowed by a legal instrument are actively supplied on a given date. Nor should a nominal licence expiry be mistaken for evidence of a brand's launch date, ownership or future renewal.

Betsson's UK Gambling Licence: Current Status and History

For a British reader, the clearest dated finding concerns Zecure Gaming Limited. The UK Gambling Commission's public register identifies account 56427 and remote casino operating licence 056427-R-332277-006. Its status is Surrendered; the recorded period runs from 12 February 2020 to 22 June 2026. The same register marks betsson.co.uk and www.rizk.com as Inactive domains, and Rizk as an inactive trading name.

DateRecorded developmentWhat it establishes
2017Betsson acquired the NetPlay business, including British-facing brands.Historical commercial presence, not evidence of a licence today.
2020Betsson publicly announced a consolidation of its UK activities; Zecure's recorded UKGC licence period began on 12 February.Changes in business focus and a dated legal permission must be considered separately.
22 Jun 2026UKGC register shows Zecure's remote casino permission surrendered. This specific authorisation is no longer active; surrender is not itself proof of a disciplinary revocation.
4 Nov 2026 checkUKGC lists betsson.co.uk and www.rizk.com as inactive under account 56427.No present British consumer authority for those sites is demonstrated by this record.

The precise conclusion matters: the reviewed Zecure licence is no longer in force. It would go further than this research supports to say that no company with any connection to Betsson can hold any British licence. The wider group includes technology and service businesses, which require separate entity-and-activity checks; a British gambling-software permission is not the same as permission to offer a casino to consumers.

Likewise, a Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) authorisation, an international Betsson domain or an overseas advertisement cannot be used as a substitute for a relevant UKGC B2C authorisation. We have not verified a successor British consumer operator for the historical domains and therefore make no claim that they accept UK customers. This article offers corporate status analysis, not sign-up guidance.

Who Holds Betsson's Swedish Licences?

Sweden is a particularly useful example of why ‘Betsson Sweden licence’ cannot safely be reduced to one company name. In the Swedish Gambling Authority's URL register, betsson.com/sv is associated with Betsson Nordic Ltd and Spin Nordic Ltd. The displayed licence entries include a commercial betting period from 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2028 and newer online gambling and betting periods from 24 August 2026 to 23 August 2031.

The regulator's page lists both holders, but its aggregate presentation should not be taken to show that all players, contracts and activities changed operator on 24 August 2026. That is an authorisation start date, not evidence of a completed migration of individual accounts. The exact contract transition would require contemporaneous operator communications and customer terms, which this evidence does not conclusively establish.

Other familiar brands have different Swedish holders: BS Nordic Ltd is listed for Betsafe and NGG Nordic Ltd for NordicBet. Those records are not interchangeable with the Betsson brand's record. In each case the relevant test is the local domain, activity and listed legal person - not whether all three names appear within the broader corporate portfolio.

This layered structure is visible without assuming that a newly named licence holder is the direct subsidiary of another named holder, or that the public Betsson AB parent directly holds the gaming licence. The Betsson brands and subsidiaries page addresses the group-company map; here the question is permission to conduct a specific type of gambling.

Other Country-Specific Licences and Operators

Denmark and the Baltics

Denmark's Gambling Authority lists Nordic Spil Limited with betsson.dk and nordicbet.dk for online casino and betting. That single operator listing covers two named domains, but the reverse inference is invalid: a product authorised to the operator is not necessarily switched on at every domain or offered to every user.

In Estonia, the Tax and Customs Board's legal-operator list associates Triogames OÜ with Betsafe and Jalla Casino. A different group company, Estneti, should not be substituted into that operator field simply because it appears elsewhere in corporate records. In Lithuania, the official Betsson site names UAB Lošimų strateginė grupė, while the national regulator's remote-gambling list includes the same entity and its approvals. The local brand's historical naming is not needed to prove the current operating relationship; published rebranding dates in different materials do not align cleanly and are omitted from this licensing conclusion.

Italy: Two Concessions, One Named Company

Azzurri Limited is identified in the terms for both Italian brands, but with different ADM concession numbers: 16027 for Betsson.it and 16026 for StarCasino.it. An older StarCasino document referred to 15230; the later official v3 contract supplies 16026. Treating 15230 as the current identifier would mix an earlier document with a newer concession relationship.

Equally, a concession's legally permitted game categories should not be marketed as proof that every possible category is currently playable on each brand site. Italian ADM permissions cannot authorise a British or Swedish operation merely because the Maltese-incorporated legal holder is part of an international group.

Belgium: Sportsbook and Casino Are Not the Same Licence

The Belgian Gaming Commission provides an especially clear counterexample to the idea of a universal Betsson operator. Its F1+ record for betssonsports.be names SAGEVAS, under record 116764. Its A+ record for betssoncasino.be instead names EXPLOITATIE CASINO MIDDELKERKE, under record 595153.

These are different legal holders and licensing categories, although the public-facing identity is Betsson. An application-store publisher or marketing partner must not be inserted into the casino operator column without evidence. Nor does the distinct Belgian site starcasino.be, registered to CHAUDFONTAINE LOISIRS, become part of the Italian StarCasino arrangement just because the names resemble one another. We have not established ownership of the Belgian casino licence holder by Betsson merely from the domain association.

Why a Licence Does Not Cover Every Betsson Brand or Country

The legal chain runs from a group or investment structure to a named operating company, then to its national authorisation and activity, and finally to a specified brand or domain. Each link needs its own evidence. A brand is an identifier, not a regulated legal person. A holding company may report the group's results without being licensed to take bets. A technology provider can hold software-related permission without holding the consumer casino licence.

That distinction also explains why a B2B customer using Betsson-related technology does not automatically become a Betsson-operated consumer casino. The supply-side economics belong to our Betsson business model and technology analysis.

MGA records provide another useful limit. Several Maltese companies within Betsson-related structures have their own official authorisation entries; overlapping domains can occur in more than one legal record. No single such entry grants unrestricted operation throughout Europe, proves that two sites share user accounts, or establishes identical local product conditions. National regulatory restrictions and changes must be checked afresh.

How We Verify Market and Licence Claims

We start with the regulator's named holder and current status, then match the authorisation to its permitted activity and any domains the authority identifies. Where the regulator records only an entity but not the specific website, we add the operator's own legal notice and label that extra evidence separately. A dated investor announcement may explain a launch or acquisition, but it cannot by itself prove that a permission remains active years later.

Our evidence categories are: register-listed for the named current official record; historical for an expired or superseded relationship; surrendered for a regulator-confirmed relinquishment; and not established where the reviewed evidence cannot support a claim. We do not treat a blocked register page, an absent search result or an application announcement as proof that a licence does not exist.

Regulatory compliance and litigation can materially change a group's operating risk without automatically changing every licence. Those questions are considered in our Betsson risks and opportunities report. All rows above reflect research reviewed on 4 November 2026; readers conducting a live licensing assessment should consult the relevant regulator's latest register and current domain terms.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is There an Official List of All Countries Where Betsson Is Licensed?

There are national regulatory registers and group disclosures, but we have not established a complete, current, brand-by-brand global register. The table above gives traceable national examples, not an exhaustive country count.

Does a Betsson Licence in Sweden Cover Every Betsson Website?

No. Swedish records associate particular domains and activities with named holders. Betsafe, NordicBet and the Swedish Betsson site have distinct operator records.

Does a Malta Licence Make Betsson Available to Customers in Great Britain?

No. Malta and Great Britain have different authorisation systems. Zecure's identified UKGC remote casino licence was surrendered in June 2026; a Malta authorisation does not reactivate it.

What If a Licence Record and a Site's Terms Name Different Companies?

The discrepancy needs investigation before attributing a product to either operator. The dates, precise domain, activity, licence category and legal roles must be compared; an app publisher, data controller or holding company may serve a different function.

The Bottom Line

Betsson's international reach is real, but it is assembled from separate national operating arrangements. The useful question is not simply ‘Which countries have Betsson?’ but ‘Which legal entity holds what permission for this product and website, and when?’ Sweden's overlapping domain records and Belgium's split casino/sportsbook licence holders show why that precision matters. Britain's surrendered Zecure licence shows why dates matter just as much.
