Betsson is owned by shareholders in Betsson AB (publ), a company listed on Nasdaq Stockholm. It is not the private property of its founder or CEO. Its biggest disclosed voting-rights holders at 31 December 2025 included Hamberg Förvaltning AB (18.7% of votes), Knutsson Holdings AB (12.3%) and Lars Kling (9.8%). Those voting percentages are different from their percentages of share capital because Betsson has shares with unequal voting power.
Pontus Lindwall is President and CEO of the listed parent, Betsson AB; Jesper Svensson is Operational CEO of the Betsson Group. Johan Lundberg chairs the parent company's board. The distinction matters: owning shares, exercising votes, overseeing a listed company and running operating businesses are not the same job.
Ownership figures below are a published snapshot at 31 December 2025, not live holdings. Leadership was checked against official disclosures available by 4 November 2026.

Who Owns Betsson AB?
The short answer is its shareholders. Betsson AB is the Swedish-listed parent at the top of a business group involved in online gambling. The consumer-facing Betsson name does not itself identify the shareholder register. For the distinction between issuer, group and customer-facing brands, see our Betsson AB company overview.
There are three questions hidden inside “who owns Betsson?” First, who owns the company's share capital? Second, who can cast the most votes at a general meeting? Third, who manages the business between shareholder meetings? Betsson's official reporting lets us answer those separately, without presenting any director, founder or executive as an undisclosed ultimate owner.
Betsson's 2025 annual report names several significant shareholders. None of the holders in its major-shareholder table individually accounts for a majority of reported votes. That does not prove that voting coalitions, family relationships or other arrangements do not exist; it means the public table alone cannot establish one person's ultimate control. A Swedish listed company also has its own governance rules: shareholders elect the board, which oversees management.
Betsson's Largest Shareholders
The following figures reproduce the principal named entries in Betsson AB's Annual Report 2025, “Major shareholders as per 31 December 2025”, page 111. The table reports share capital and voting rights using the company's published percentages. It is a dated issuer disclosure, not a real-time account of subsequent transactions.
| Holder as disclosed | Share capital | Voting rights | Share-class note | As at | Official source |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hamberg Förvaltning AB | 3.8% | 18.7% | A and B | 31 Dec 2025 | Annual Report 2025, p. 111 |
| Knutsson Holdings AB | 4.8% | 12.3% | A and B | 31 Dec 2025 | Annual Report 2025, p. 111 |
| Lars Kling | 2.7% | 9.8% | A and B | 31 Dec 2025 | Annual Report 2025, p. 111 |
| Berit Lindwall | 1.3% | 6.2% | A and B | 31 Dec 2025 | Annual Report 2025, p. 111 |
| Provobis Holding AB | 1.1% | 4.9% | A and B | 31 Dec 2025 | Annual Report 2025, p. 111 |
| Pontus Lindwall | 1.5% | 3.8% | A and B | 31 Dec 2025 | Annual Report 2025, p. 111 |
| Fidelity Investments (FMR) | 5.5% | 2.8% | B | 31 Dec 2025 | Annual Report 2025, p. 111 |
| Avanza Pension | 3.8% | 1.9% | B | 31 Dec 2025 | Annual Report 2025, p. 111 |
| Vanguard | 3.1% | 1.6% | B | 31 Dec 2025 | Annual Report 2025, p. 111 |
| Svea Bank AB | 2.9% | 1.5% | B | 31 Dec 2025 | Annual Report 2025, p. 111 |
How to read this: Fidelity held a larger disclosed proportion of capital than Hamberg Förvaltning AB, but much less voting power. Conversely, Hamberg's Class A holdings produced a much greater share of votes than its capital percentage suggests. The reported names are those used by the company's source; an investment intermediary or holding company should not automatically be treated as the final beneficial owner of every underlying share.
The annual report also records “Other owners” collectively, rather than identifying every small shareholder. A nomination committee formed from later voting-rights positions is not a replacement for the entire December 2025 table. Nor should individual directors' holdings shown on a webpage updated in June 2026 be spliced into these year-end percentages: dates, holder definitions and denominators differ.
How Betsson's A and B Shares Affect Voting Control
Betsson's Class A shares carry ten votes each; Class B shares carry one vote each. Its annual report also identifies Class C shares in the capital structure, but the central distinction for the major shareholders above is between A and B voting weight. The report separates treasury shares from outstanding voting rights.
Imagine a purely hypothetical company with 100 A shares and 900 B shares, with no other classes or treasury shares. The A shares account for just 10% of the 1,000 shares but command 1,000 of the 1,900 votes - approximately 52.6%. The illustration shows the mechanism, not Betsson's actual ownership or any named shareholder's control.
Shareholders and share classes → Votes at general meeting → Betsson AB board → Parent-company management
Subsidiary officers and directors require appointments or powers specific to their legal entities.
Capital percentage is therefore an imperfect proxy for influence at the annual general meeting. The number of votes helps determine board elections and other shareholder resolutions; it does not mean a shareholder personally runs customer operations or can disregard company law and board responsibilities.

Who Is the CEO of Betsson?
Pontus Lindwall is President and Chief Executive Officer of Betsson AB, the listed parent. Betsson's current official Group Management page also describes Jesper Svensson as Operational Chief Executive Officer of the Betsson Group. Both titles are meaningful, but they describe different responsibilities. Saying simply “Jesper Svensson is CEO of Betsson AB” would change the corporate scope and be misleading.
| Person | Role | Entity or scope | As-of evidence | Evidence status | Official source |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pontus Lindwall | President and CEO | Betsson AB (listed parent) | Q3 2026 and management page; checked 4 Nov | Confirmed | Betsson Group Management; Q3 2026 report |
| Martin Öhman | Chief Financial Officer | Betsson AB | Management page; checked 4 Nov | Confirmed | Betsson Group Management |
| Triin Toomemets-Krasnitski | Chief Legal Officer | Betsson AB | Management page; checked 4 Nov | Confirmed | Betsson Group Management |
| Jesper Svensson | Operational CEO | Betsson Group operations | Management page; checked 4 Nov | Confirmed | Betsson Group Management |
| Kristian Saliba | Operational CFO | Betsson Group operations | Management page; checked 4 Nov | Confirmed | Betsson Group Management |
| Lina Rollby Claesson | VP Governance, Risk and Compliance; adjunct management member | Group Management context | Management page; checked 4 Nov | Confirmed, adjunct | Betsson Group Management |
These are leadership titles reported by the company, not a list of statutory directors at every subsidiary. A group executive can exercise considerable operational authority while holding a different formal position, or no directorship, at a particular legal company. That distinction becomes important when checking licence records, company accounts or contract signatories.
Older reporting about a proposed or expected departure of an executive needs its own event date. It cannot override the current official disclosure of Pontus Lindwall's position or establish an unannounced successor. Betsson's parent-versus-group distinction also matters for understanding its financial results, which are primarily published on a consolidated basis.
Betsson AB Board of Directors and Group Governance
The board is elected by shareholders and is responsible for oversight of the listed company. It is not interchangeable with the people executing betting, casino, technology and compliance operations. At the annual general meeting on 7 May 2026, shareholders re-elected seven directors and re-elected Johan Lundberg as chair. The company's board profile was updated on 30 June 2026.
| Director | Board office / committee | Entity | Appointment and source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Johan Lundberg | Chair; Audit Committee member; Remuneration Committee chair | Betsson AB | Re-elected 7 May 2026; AGM bulletin and Board page |
| Pontus Lindwall | Director; also parent CEO | Betsson AB | Re-elected 7 May 2026; AGM bulletin and Board page |
| Eva de Falck | Director; Audit Committee chair | Betsson AB | Re-elected 7 May 2026; AGM bulletin and Board page |
| Peter Hamberg | Director; Remuneration Committee member | Betsson AB | Re-elected 7 May 2026; AGM bulletin and Board page |
| Eva Leach | Director; Remuneration Committee member | Betsson AB | Re-elected 7 May 2026; AGM bulletin and Board page |
| Louise Nylén | Director; Audit Committee member | Betsson AB | Re-elected 7 May 2026; AGM bulletin and Board page |
| Tristan Sjöberg | Director | Betsson AB | Re-elected 7 May 2026; AGM bulletin and Board page |
Some board members have connections to important shareholders. For example, Betsson describes Peter Hamberg as a board member of Hamberg Förvaltning AB, and Tristan Sjöberg as a partner and co-owner of Knutsson Holdings AB. These disclosures help explain relationships between governance and substantial holders. They do not specify every individual's ultimate beneficial interest or a precise personal ownership percentage in the investment company.
It is also wrong to assume that each director belongs to management. Betsson says Pontus Lindwall is the only board member employed by the company. The board's audit and remuneration committees support oversight; they are not separate consumer gambling operators.
Directors of Subsidiaries and Other Corporate Roles
Corporate titles must follow the legal entity. A statutory director is an officer recorded at a specific registered company. A group CFO is a functional role. A licence holder or a person named in a regulator's record has responsibilities within a particular regulatory framework. None automatically proves the other.
For a concrete UK example, Companies House filings identify Kristian Saliba as a director of Sporting Solutions Services Limited from 2 December 2024, Strive Platform Limited from 19 April 2021 and Games Tech and Marketing Ltd from 1 May 2025. They also record Johan Pontus Lindwall as a director of Sporting Solutions Services Limited from 2 December 2024. These are entity-specific appointments, not an assertion that either person directs every Betsson company.
Readers interested in the broader company network can use our Betsson brands and subsidiaries page. The broader picture is a network of operating businesses and investments, not a direct personal ownership chain descending from the CEO to every casino brand.
How Ownership and Leadership Have Changed
Betsson's long history explains why its founder-era names, public shareholders and present-day group executives are sometimes confused in search results. Historical associations with Cherry and other gaming businesses do not mean those businesses are automatically present-day Betsson subsidiaries or that their founders retain full control today. A deeper account belongs in Betsson's corporate history.
The most relevant recent governance events for this page are the year-end 31 December 2025 major-shareholder snapshot, the 7 May 2026 board re-election and the subsequent official management/board disclosures. Different dates answer different questions. Neither newer board holdings nor a nomination-committee announcement should be treated as a fully refreshed list of all shareholders.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Pontus Lindwall Own Betsson?
He is Betsson AB's President and CEO and was a disclosed shareholder with 1.5% of capital and 3.8% of votes at 31 December 2025. Those figures establish a holding, not sole ownership of the listed company.
Who Has the Most Voting Rights in Betsson?
Hamberg Förvaltning AB headed the named holders in the 31 December 2025 annual-report table, with 18.7% of votes. This is a dated disclosure; the ranking could change after transactions.
Why Can Someone Own Fewer Shares But Have More Votes?
Betsson's A shares carry ten votes each, versus one per B share. A holder weighted towards A shares can therefore command more votes than a larger investor holding mainly B shares.
Is Betsson's Operational CEO Also CEO of Betsson AB?
They are different officially described roles. Pontus Lindwall is CEO of the listed parent; Jesper Svensson is Operational CEO of the Betsson Group. Corporate documents should be read using the exact entity and title.
My take: The most revealing Betsson ownership number is often the voting percentage, not the capital percentage. I would read it alongside the publication date and the exact entity attached to each executive's title. That combination explains the difference between influence, oversight and day-to-day control without inventing a single ultimate owner.
